Customer Reviews for the Soller Train Tour
As a couple, we wanted to experience the famous historic Sóller train without having to dedicate a full day of our holiday to it. We chose this afternoon option from NoFrills Excursions and the management fully met our expectations from start to finish. The service includes transfers in an air-conditioned coach, the assistance of a guide with English commentary, and all tickets reserved in advance, which avoids surprises. The journey on the vintage train lasts about an hour through spectacular landscapes and, after a brief stop in Sóller to admire its architecture, the tram takes you down in 25 minutes to Port de Sóller. We had enough time in both places to take panoramic photographs and walk through the streets, returning by coach around 18:30 to our point of origin. We consider it to be one of the best value-for-money excursions in Mallorca if you are looking to optimize your time. We would like to highlight the kindness of both the guide and the bus driver, who were extremely professional and pleasant throughout the entire tour.
We traveled with the kids from the north of the island and the afternoon schedule was perfect to avoid tiring them out. We were picked up at 13:15 near our hotel and taken to Palma to catch the old vintage wooden train. The kids really enjoyed crossing the tunnels along the route, and the views of the valley are magnificent. In Sóller we had about 35 minutes of free time, just enough to see the main square, the church, and try the local orange ice cream. Then we went down on the tram to Port de Sóller where we had another 40 minutes to walk around before the coach picked us up at 18:00. A very punctual local company and a highly recommended excursion to do as a family.
A wonderful and very well-organized afternoon, with no early wake-up calls thanks to the air-conditioned coach picking us up after 1:00 PM. The 50-minute journey on the old train from Palma to Sóller is beautiful and very comfortable, ideal for exploring the Serra de Tramuntana while relaxing. Both the guide and the bus driver were lovely, very attentive to those of us who are a bit older. Excellent value for money.
I was looking for excursions in Mallorca that wouldn't take up the whole day and this afternoon one was a total success. The 25-minute tram ride down to the port is super cool and the bus driver handled the curves perfectly. The guide who accompanied us spoke English and gave us very interesting commentary about the areas we passed. Highly recommended if you want to sleep in!
The wooden train is amazing and the mountain scenery is incredible. Great organization by NoFrills Excursions keeping a whole carriage just for our group, it’s so nice to travel without the queues!
As an international visitor who appreciates efficient scheduling, I found this specialized half-day itinerary to be an excellent use of time. The local company effectively addresses a common issue by providing a streamlined afternoon alternative to the lengthy full-day excursions in Mallorca. Our professional guide provided insightful commentary regarding the Tramuntana region during the transit, and the coordination with the railway operators ensured a completely seamless transition to our dedicated group carriage. Both the 50-minute journey on the historic railway and the subsequent tram descent to Port de Sóller were impeccably timed, providing a reliable and well-organized introduction to these iconic transport routes.
We wanted to take the kids on the famous train, but a full-day excursion felt like it would be way too long and tiring for a young family. This exclusive afternoon tour by NoFrills Excursions was the perfect solution, letting us have a lazy morning by the pool before our pickup. The English-speaking guide kept everyone informed, and the coach driver got us to the station safely and right on time for the 15:10 departure. Watching the kids' faces as the antique wooden train went through the mountain tunnels was priceless, and the short stops in both the town and Port de Sóller gave us just enough time for photos and a snack.
My partner and I loved the relaxed timing of this tour since it didn't start until lunchtime. Our NoFrills guide was excellent on the way to Palma, giving us clear information and running the whole day with great organization. Moving from the vintage 100-year-old train straight onto the open-sided tram that goes through the valley down to Port de Sóller was such a fun experience. It is fantastic value for money for a half-day trip out.
This half-day afternoon trip was exactly what my wife and I were looking for as senior travelers. The air-conditioned coach dropped us off right at the station in Palma, and since this local company has its own reserved carriage on the historic wooden train, we didn't have to queue or worry about seating. We had just enough time to stroll around the main square in Sóller, try some local orange ice cream, and then take the lovely 25-minute tram down to the port before the bus brought us back. It is a highly recommended option if you prefer a lighter, well-organized schedule.
An absolute must-do if you want to experience the classic wooden train without waking up at the break of dawn. The mountain tunnels and the scenery as you descend into the valley were completely spectacular!
