During this tour we will travel through the Tramuntana Mountain Range which is a Unesco World Heritatge Site thanks to its breathtaking landscape. Our first stop will be deep in the mountain range at Lluc Monastery, where you will have time to explore this spiritual part of Mallorca. We will take different modes of original transportation and we will get to discover areas such as Sa Calobra, Soller and Puerto de Soller on the boat, tram and vintage train.
The Island Tour of Mallorca is a round trip and, depending on the transport schedules and departure area, the tour could take place one way round or the other, with the train journey first from Palma to Soller, the tram from Soller to Puerto Soller, the boat from Puerto Soller to Sa Calobra and the journey by coach up the mountain and then back to the hotels... or the opposite way round. We normally take the tour following this itinerary:
Lluc Monastery
We drive by coach from Palma straight up to the north of the island and we head for the mounatins. Your expert guide will give you plenty of information during the journey about what to expect during the day and, as we reach the mountain range, will explain the flora and fauna of the area. We will park up at Lluc and you will have half an hour to see its famous monastery and explore the grounds. This is a bonus stop on this tour, which we have added due to popular demand.
Coach through the Tramuntana Mountains
We will get back on the coach to continue on our discovery of the island of Mallorca. Enjoy the coach journey as you learn about this beautiful area with the guide's explanations about all the different sights we will come across such as Lluc Monastery, the Puig Mayor and the Torrent de Pareis gorge. During this part of the trip you will have the opportunity to see one of Europe's most spectacular roads: the one that leads to Sa Calobra, often known as the "snake road".
Sa Calobra
Sa Calobra is one of the highlights of the Serra de Tramuntana Mountain range and is famous for its breathtaking scenery and its gorge. You will have free time which you can use to explore the area. In this beautiful corner of Mallorca you can swim at the beach or take a stroll to the mouth of the Torrent de Pareis gorge. There are several restaurants where you can have lunch as you make the most out of this secluded paradise.
Boat
Our boat trip will take us from Sa Calobra to the Port of Soller and, as we follow the coast, you will witness Mallorca's beauty in a way that will exceed your expectations. Observing from out at sea ancient defensive towers, coves, cliffs, marine caves, small islands is an image you will keep with you forever. On this 40-minute boat ride you are going to take more Instagram photos than you ever thought possible!
Puerto de Soller
The Port of Soller is another of the highlights of this excursion, and we will have a magnificent view of the harbour as we approach from sea. This town is where the tram terminates and watching the old wooden carriages shunt along the seafront is an experience not to be missed. You will be able to stroll around the harbour before we board one of those unique, wooden trams.
Tram
We will take the old tram from Puerto de Soller to Soller. The tram journey takes approximately 25 minutes and goes from the seafront of Puerto de Soller to Soller's classic railway station in Soller Old Town.. During this ride we will go through orchards full of lemon and orange trees, which is Soller's most famous landscape, as well as riding straight through the old town itself.
Train
The highlight of this Mallorca Island Tour for many is the vintage train ride. This experience will make you fall completely in love with the island. You will board Soller's world famous wooden train which was built in 1912. The train crosses Soller's valley as it goes through various tunnels giving us priviledged views of the valley. The tunnels are carved out of the rock and take you literally through the heart of the mountain range. The train ride takes approx. 50 mins and goes between Soller and Palma.
